Philosophy
Fairmont ECE-8 is a learning community focused on academic achievement, second language acquisition and global awareness. At Fairmont, students receive an education that inspires them to develop intellectual curiosity, inquisitiveness and creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills; preparing them for future academic and social success. This is accomplished through three guiding principles:
1. Academic opportunities begin with proficiency in English.
2. World language and scaffolded second language instruction support students’ transition to two languages
3. Fairmont staff and students share a value system that celebrates language, community, culture and diversity. This is a culture where students develop an appreciation for their place in the world and the inter-connectedness of a global community.
Fairmont is located in the historic Baker neighborhood in downtown Denver. Our school offers many special programs including after school tutoring, and several enrichment opportunities including run clubs and choir. Our community garden provides another great opportunity for students to learn about plants and nutrition as well as providing produce for our fall student-run farmer’s market.
Another core component of our school is our relationship with our community. One of the ways we build a strong home-school connection is through our monthly parent coffees and the family evenings we host throughout the year celebrating the visual and performing arts, literacy, mathematics, world cultures, science and more! We invite you to visit our school and take a tour, hosted weekly on Thursdays at 9:30am, to learn more about the Fairmont community. Email Lizzette Sanchez, one of our Administrative Assistants, to reserve your spot!
